Managed Hosting Overview
Modular Merchant provides managed shared and dedicated shopping cart hosting options. A managed server is monitored 24/7 by technicians ready to fix any problem that comes up. Also, updates and installation of common server components are provided at no extra charge. You can concentrate on running your online business, not the server hardware.
SSL Support & Security
Security is the lifeblood of an online business. Modular Merchant provides a 128-bit SSL security certificate with every account. Clients who add hosting to their shopping cart account are eligible for a 128-bit SSL security certificate dedicated to their domain. SSL certificate installation is provided by Modular Merchant at no extra cost.
In addition to SSL security, all sensitive data is encrypted prior to being recorded in the store database using a unique encryption algorithm unique to each account. The encrypted data can only be decrypted and read by the account holder of that specific account.
Modular Merchant also includes a suite of other security tools, such as: the ability to block fraudulent credit card numbers, email addresses and IP addresses from placing orders, the option to reject orders placed by customers with billing & shipping addresses that don't match, and much more.
Server Compatibility
Modular Merchant servers are optimized for ecommerce. Our hosting environment is compatible with many common systems used in ecommerce, including: Authorize.net, PayFlow Pro, PayPal, PHP, MySQL, Perl, Zend Optimizer, UPS, USPS, FedEx, Order Motion, and others.
RackSpace Data Centers
Modular Merchant's web servers are hosted with RackSpace hosting facility. RackSpace owns and operates five data centers across the continental US and the UK. Access to all data centers is strictly monitored using keycard protocols, biometric scanning protocols and continuous interior and exterior surveillance. You can relax in the knowledge that a team of server administrators is on duty to monitor all servers, ensuring your website remains up and running — securely.
RackSpace Technicians
Rackspace data centers employ only certified networking and security teams that are thoroughly experienced in managing and monitoring enterprise level networks. The data centers are physically isolated from everyone but level three technicians within the RackSpace environment. Public access is strictly forbidden. Access to the data center floors is restricted to those holding Rackspace military-grade pass cards. Furthermore, access to the data centers themselves is restricted by Biometric hand scanners.
Multiple Power Source Backups
Power systems in Rackspace data centers are designed to run uninterrupted even in the unlikely event of a total power outage. All servers are fed with conditioned UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) power that will run if utility power fails. The UPS power subsystem is N+1 redundant with instantaneous fail over in case the primary UPS fails. In the event of an extended power outage, an on-site diesel generator can run indefinitely. The generator is regularly tested to ensure that it will continue to function in the event of an emergency. |
